Most keys nowadays have a chip insert which without it the car will not start. Evidently you lost or damaged the chip when it got broken. May have to purchase a new key from dealer. Hang on to your wallet. Not cheap. You might check a local locksmith to see if they have a blank key, but I doubt it. josney613@hotmail.com
Have you checked the central locking fuse (should be in the car, not engine bay) that would be linked to the immobilizer but if the car starts while the Central locking doesn't then changing the fuse might solve the problem.
