You have to be turning the caliper clockwise to be able to compress it. There are grooves on it that will help you do this. I used needle pliers.
the piston needs to be turned counter clock wise while compressing the piston
change rear brakes on a 2004 Nissan maxima

some do 4 wheel disc brakes came on the se model
Maxima comes with Auto adjustments. All you need to adjust is brake pedal free movement.
no because the maxima is a 5 lug and the sentra is 4 lug
i like to bleed them from rear passenger to front driver then rear driver to right front but if its abs brakes i was told to bleed both back then both front
To change the rear brakes on a 2002 N16 Nissan Pulsar, first, lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the rear wheel, then unbolt the caliper and slide it off the brake rotor. Replace the old brake pads with new ones, ensuring to compress the caliper piston if necessary. Reassemble by reattaching the caliper, replacing the wheel, and lowering the vehicle back to the ground.
If the brakes are disk on the rear they can't be push or pressed in they have to be screwed in by turning the piston clock wise try this it should work. That is what I did on my 1994 Nissan Maxima becareful not to damage the rubber dust boot on the piston.
If there are disc brake, it could be frozen caliper slides or a frozen caliper piston. If they are drum brakes, it could be a frozen wheel cylinder.
you take a pair of plyers or a caliper kit from autozone and turn in the calipers. You have to turn them clockwise to make them go back in. do not try and compress them in, you will damage them.
dont compress, take brake caps off and it's self adjusting so turn it back clockwise,. behind the brake pads. For Rear Brakes: Use either a needle-nose pliers (difficult) or a "brake tool" (available at any autoparts store) to rotate the piston. For Front Brakes: Just use a C-clamp to (gently!!!) push the piston inward. The Piston in the rear brake caliper screws in. There are two holes to insert a tool into to rotate the piston. Get the special tool at any auto parts store, It'll be worth the $4 or $5 dollars.
