This could be absolutely any thing, even down to a faulty sensor. The easiest and quickest way to solve this may be to have a mechanic plug a diagnostic tool into your car.
Sounds like sending unit in tank is stuck or elec. problem with it.
The size of the Renault mMegane Ssenic 1.6 1999 sump plug is 9mm. You can find this plug at the bottom of the gearbox.
The sqeel can be because of dust or it you have not been driving on dirt roads it could also be that the brack discs that were fitted are of a hard compound.
I have a 05 grand senic, there is a 110am fuse on the + terminal of the battery, small black bit between the two + terminals, My senic has just had to go in to be looked at as if this has went AA states it must be serious hope this helps
Just had mine done & according to Renault garage it's at 5 years or every 72,000 miles. I had to have mine changed due to water pump leakage. It was changed at same time. Hope this helps. Donna
Check auto transmission fluid level. If it's not that, an auto trans servicing outfit will be able to look at fault codes and diagnose a deeper problem if there is one.
prob the 2 bulbs have gone just renove 3 screws on top of dash and lift out then remove the radio/clock and there are two twist in caps with filement bulbs which are stocked by halfords then reassemble job done
