A Renault Scenic can start without a TDC (top dead center) sensor, but it may experience issues such as rough idling, misfiring, or difficulty in starting. The TDC sensor is crucial for the engine management system as it helps determine the position of the crankshaft. If the sensor is faulty or missing, the engine may run poorly or not at all, depending on the specific engine management setup. It's advisable to replace or repair the sensor for optimal engine performance.

To change the TDC (Top Dead Center) sensor on a 2005 Grand Scenic, first, disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Locate the TDC sensor, which is usually found near the crankshaft or flywheel. Remove the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor from its mounting point. Install the new sensor by reversing the process—secure it in place, reconnect the electrical connector, and reconnect the battery.
