open the bonnet and as you stand facing the car small black rubber pyramid sticking out of slam panel is the top part remove headlight to gain access to main part of switch applicable to my year 2000 one anyway
Kept happening on my own Mondeo. In the end removed the horn in the boot. Later found out it was the bonnet switch. Either replace it or give it a good going over with WD40. Worth a try.
The under bonnet alarm switch on a Rover SLI is typically located near the front of the engine compartment, often mounted on or near the latch assembly of the bonnet (hood). This switch activates the alarm when the bonnet is opened without the proper key or remote. For precise location, it's advisable to consult the vehicle's service manual, as placement might vary slightly between models and years.
Need to get it checked for codes by a dealer or similar that can take out codes which will refer to what part of the system has triggered the alarm i.e pin point it to which door switch or bonnet switch or if its a voltage drop issue etc.
There's no sensor for the backup alarm. It's either wired to the reverse lamp switch (or corresponding circuit from the transmission ECU if you're running an Allison) or spliced into the reverse lamp circuit. Either the alarm's not getting power, it's not grounded, or the alarm itself is faulty.
The bonnet sensor, often referred to as the hood or bonnet latch sensor, is typically located near the hood latch mechanism in the front section of the vehicle. It is usually mounted on the body of the car or on the latch itself, detecting whether the hood is closed or open. In some vehicles, it may also be integrated with the alarm system to trigger alerts if the hood is not securely closed. Always refer to the vehicle's manual for the exact location, as it can vary by make and model.
voltage sensor, alarm circuit, Pulse generator, counter, register and timing circuits.
A simple fire alarm has a sensor or switch that reacts to fire or smoke and trips a device that makes noise. For instance, you could use a string pulling on a switch that is held open by the string until the string catches fire, closing the switch and ringing a bell.
open bonnet and alarm horn is on top rite below black perforated cover. if you unplug it it will still sounds the alarm siren
I have a Mk2 and have disabled the alarm system because it kept going off at random. The main problem seems to be the bonnet (engine hood) switch, which on mine is above the left headlamp (headlight). Covered in a protective rubber cap. Well instead of buying a new one I simply cut the wires, that's it! You can also reach into bodywork on left inside boot (trunk) and pull wires from the horn!!! Note: val edited this for American translations of European terms for hood and trunk.
Smash the driver's side window in with a hammer then try to hotwire it. Should activate the alarm nicely.
