ks430 trunk latch
The only one inside the vehicle is in the trunk itself, it is an emergency release latch. There is no button or latch in the car. To open the trunk either unlock all the doors with the keyless entry or the button on the door and hit the button on the trunk above the license plate. You can also hit the trunk unlock button on the key and then hit the button above the license plate to open it.
my trunk latch won't work what could be wrog
The hood on a Volvo S60 can be opened when the latch is not working by sticking a stiff piece of wire into the grill and pulling on the release latch. The latch can then be repaired or replaced.
Unplug the wires going to the trunk latch.
To fix a trunk latch that is stuck open, the teeth on the lock may have to be adjusted so the trunk will close. It is also possible that the cable for the trunk latch is broken. To fix the gas cap door latch may require a little bending and adjusting with a pair of pliers.
With a Large Hammer
If the remote for your 1997 Chrysler LHS isn't working and the trunk won't close or latch, you can try manually opening the trunk and inspecting the latch mechanism for any obstructions or damage. Check the trunk release cable and ensure it's functioning properly. You can also use the key to manually unlock the trunk and see if that helps engage the latch. If the problem persists, consider consulting a mechanic for further assistance.
I would say that if you are having this problem most likely the latch has been slightly bent in or out, or the vehicle has been wrecked in the past. Also, the alignment of the trunk could be off. (wrecked) But a trunk latch can get damaged from slamming it over and over. Also, if it is a used car, you never know what has been done to the vehicle. Maybe someone locked their keys in the trunk and broke the latch in the past. Or, maybe someone broke into the car when it was previously owned and the latch has been replaced. You never know. People do strange things.

there is a cable that runs from the trunk release lever to the latch inside the trunk. you should be able to disconnect it from the latch inside the trunk
The latch itself is held on with bolts, easy enough to change. The release cable has to be fed down the inside of the rocker panel and into the trunk.
