To fix a faulty external temperature sensor on a Volvo S80, first locate the sensor, typically found near the front grille or behind the bumper. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor from its mounting. Replace it with a new sensor, reconnect the electrical connector, and test the system to ensure accurate temperature readings. If issues persist, check the wiring for damage or corrosion.
Most engines have the temperature sensor either at the top water inlet or on the side of the block. Remove the sensor wiring, then unscrew the sensor to replace it.
