The grey relay in a Peugeot 306 diesel is primarily responsible for controlling the glow plug system. Glow plugs are essential for preheating the engine's combustion chambers, ensuring easier starting, especially in colder conditions. If the grey relay fails, it can lead to difficulties starting the engine or poor performance in cold weather. Checking and replacing this relay can help maintain optimal engine function.
