there is no thermostat. the ac is either on or off. if the chilled air on low speed is too cold, move the temperature control to add warm air into the air stream. the ac compressor on type a3, a4, a5 jettas (93 on) does not cycle on and off like pre-93 jettas. the compressor is a variable volume type which internally adjusts refrigerant flow based on ac system pressures.
