I have a 1999 Passat 1.8L T and I'm sorry to inform you we have no dipstick. They have sealed transmissions and require to fill them by the top with a 17mm hex to remove plug. Good luck cause I'm having a bit of an issue right now trying to change the seals for the axles and have to replace the fluid also while I'm at it.

In a 2004 Volkswagen Passat, the transmission fluid dipstick is typically located near the back of the engine bay, often on the passenger side. It may be necessary to remove some engine covers or components for better access. However, it's important to note that many modern vehicles, including some Passat models, do not have a traditional dipstick for checking transmission fluid, as they use sealed systems. Always consult the owner's manual for specific details regarding your vehicle.
