For a Volvo XC90, the recommended engine oil is typically 0W-30 or 5W-30 synthetic oil, depending on the engine type and the climate conditions. It's crucial to check your owner's manual for the specific oil weight and specifications that suit your model year and engine variant. Using the correct oil ensures optimal engine performance and longevity. Always look for oils that meet Volvo's specifications, such as the VCC 95200377 standard.

To drain the oil on a 2008 Volvo XC90, start by warming up the engine slightly to thin the oil for easier drainage, then turn it off and allow it to cool a bit. Place a drain pan under the oil pan, remove the oil drain plug with a wrench, and let the old oil flow out completely. Once drained, replace the drain plug securely, and refill with new oil through the oil fill cap. Always dispose of the old oil properly at a recycling center.
