I don't know, as a lot of things can trigger it. If you're at your wit's end, though, you can disconnect the speaker, as I've done. Simply lift the hood and identify the speakers at the very back (if I remember correctly, each looks kind of like a tuba; you can't miss them). Somewhere very close to them is a plug. Unplug it and the alarm will no longer sound. The car will still go into anti-theft mode by blinking lights and refusing to start until you lock the doors; you just won't hear anything.

If the same engineand, if both either have theft alarm or neither have theft alarm then it may work.
If you don't set the alarm using the remote and lock the car with the key the alarm shouldn't be activated.
The body computer and engine computer both control theft alarm functions. It is not an individual module.
The factory system is not one "box". The engine computer and body computer work together to provide the theft alarm functions.
I used the remote to lock/unlock the doors and it reset the anti-theft on a 1997 Dodge Intrepid.
