The sensor in the reservoir is probably bad. It is located in the bottom of the reservoir and fairly easy to change.
To reset the coolant indicator on a 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS, first ensure that the engine is off and cooled down. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine. Press the gas pedal three times within five seconds, then turn the ignition off. This should reset the coolant level indicator. If the warning persists, check the coolant level and system for any issues.

The light is the indicator for the coolant level. Check your coolant level. It also might light up because of a bad sensor. Hope this helps.

If it is the low coolant light, it may mean your coolant is low. If it is not low, it may be the low coolant light sensor malfunctioning.
It's connected to the coolant tank. Mine was worked on by a previous owner, and isn't working, so the coolant warning is always on. Look for a wire coming from the tank.
