It depends how small it is, but usually yes. The co will go way up.
Punch a hole in the muffler. (May cause you to fail a safety/emissions inspection) Ha ha.
Generally, a hole in your exhaust system can lead to increased emissions, making it more challenging to pass an emissions test. The hole may allow exhaust gases to escape before they reach the catalytic converter, preventing it from effectively reducing harmful pollutants. Additionally, the sound and other signs of a damaged exhaust could raise flags during the inspection, potentially resulting in a failure. It's advisable to repair any exhaust issues before attempting to pass emissions.
you could have a small hole in your exhaust between your engine and your muffler....you can patch the exhaust or replace your exhaust
Uh.. no. At least not if you want it to pass any emissions test. Plus, if you did, it would leave a gaping hole in your exhaust system.
AnswerCondensation. The hot exhaust system is prone to do this, sometimes mufflers have a small hole in them to act as a drain. Don't worry about it.
Radiators do not have exhaust.
Yes! Then you would have triple exhaust.
If the pipe is in good enough shape you can weld over the hole, BUT If there is one small hole rusted in the system it is a good sign the pipe is rotted. There will be many other holes soon. There are probably more holes than you know about. You will probably have to have an exhaust shop put in a new pipe for you.
You could try J.B Weld or use exaust tape to temporarily fix the problem.
If the hole is smaller than a nickel, I would not worry about it. If the hole is on the bottom side of the exhaust pipe, it might actually be a good thing, as it would allow the water in the exhaust to drain out before it enters the muffler. Some newer cars have drain holes in the exhuast system to prevent things from rusting out quickly.
usually you will be able to hear a abnormal sound coming from the exhaust. it may have become louder or when you reach higher rpm you can hear a high pitch noise coming from the in higher pressure in the exhaust being pushed out the small hole or if its a big hole you will definatly notice an increase in noise.
there should not be any drain holes in an exhaust
