You have to train it by doing so comb it the way you want it to go and try a hair net after you style it and put it on to sleep.

The direction that hair lies across the head is affected by:

• The direction that the root grows out of the scalp (it may lie at an angle in the scalp, so the hair will continue in the same direction)
• Its strength (stiffer thicker hair shafts will stand more upright)
• The curve or curl of the hair
• The thickness of the hair (if there are a large number of hair shafts in an area of scalp they may stand more upright because they support each other)
• The way it is cut (this is limited in effect, but related to the point above)
  

If hair has a strong tendency to lie in a particular direction it can be temporarily redirected by drying it or gently heating it while holding it in a new position, (because hair is softer when wet or warm), or by holding it in the new position until a setting agent such as hairspray or gel dries on it to hold it there. Some strong and thick hair will be more resistant to these treatments.
