Stretches are generally not recommended before strength training for a few reasons. However, warm ups are still very important, and you should be warming up by doing light sets before your work sets. Nothing gets the blood moving and the muscles stretched (correctly - i.e. dynamically, not statically) than going through the range of motion of your exercises with incrementally more weight.
You simple do the stretch your way. As long as you get to stretch enough and appropriately, you can always be resourceful.
