It has been thought by many that physically fit people have less to be depressed about since their body is in good shape. And with that in mind since they are in shape their body works properly; so there is no build up of hormones in their body systems. Although a great many physically fit people seem mentally fit as well (getting those endorphins going which staves off depression) depression can be genetic so it doesn't matter how physically fit one is in some cases. My girlfriends son was in great shape (worked out) in college and studied hard and he had to go on short-term antidepressants. Of course being fit helps, but depression still can hit anyone at anytime.
