Well i was thinking of Driving from San Diego to Orlando, Florida. I am trying to do a "rough" estimate of expenses for this trip. It really boils down to one thing, GAS.

All depending on your car and gas prices during the trip, i figured it would cost around 700-1000. Edited answer: First, figure out what your cars miles per gallon or mpg is. This is done by filling up your car until the nozzle clicks off once... do not top off. Reset your tripometer. The next time you gas up, fill it up until it the nozzle clicks off like the first time. Divide the miles you have driven from your last fill up by the amount of gallons you just put in. This is your mpg. Next, go to mapquest.com and enter your starting point and destination and get your total miles driven. Figure out how many gallons you will use by dividing the total miles driven by your mpg. Then go to gasbuddy.com and get an average figure on gas prices. Multiply the average gas price figure by the amount of gallons you will use. The quick and dirty way is to go to http://www.gasbuddy.com/Trip_Calculator.aspx and it will do that all for you... I'm driving from Maine to Los Angeles next week, about 3,300 miles. I get about 33 mpg on the highway, so I'll use about 100 gallons. Since the national average is about $2.25 per gallon right now, my cost will be about $225.00 in gas. Cheaper than an airline ticket...
