Design, build quality, and, of course, price. The Trikke appears to have undergone extensive engineering throughout its development and model line. Each model is well designed to meet or exceed its intended usage requirements without excessive metal fatigue or performance limitations. Trikke is the originally patented cambering three-wheeled human-powered vehicle. The Carving Trikke does not appear to meet the same performance requirements as the Trikke. While also exhibiting an all-aluminum frame and their own patents for design, the vehicle's components appear to be fabricated to a lower strength requirement (e.g., the wheel mountings and bearings). The overall design shows significant differences that have been reported to affect rideability as well. For example, the pneumatic tires do not perform well, and are not recommended, even when mounted on an older Trikke model (which Carving Trike's manufacturer recommends). However, this is all reflected in the Carving Trike's price--roughly half that of the equivalent-sized Trikke.
A tadpole trike has two wheels in the front and one wheel in the back, while a delta trike has one wheel in the front and two wheels in the back. This difference in wheel configuration affects the stability, turning radius, and overall handling of the trike.
