I've just started a combination of cardio and weights training. I think that's the best option, as the two work hand in hand. I'm not sure how long it will take me to get really fit, but I also plan on doing hard hill runs and eventually cycling and swimming. If in three months I don't see progress I will be annoyed and probably give up.
