I do not think so., at least not while playing sports. In fact, it seem to me that the guys with big heavy muscles get more muscle pulls and tears than the lean wiry guys. I think flexibility may be the difference and large muscles are not more flexible .
The reason for this is because you are straining the muscles in your back. The human body is not used to such extensions, especially if these extensions are prolonged for a period of time. It is not suggested to continually lean forward or lean forward for long periods of time in order to keep your back muscles strong.
