That also helps keep your suit in better shape because you don't need to dry-clean it that often. Ideally a fine suit should hardly ever be dry-cleaned. You can achieve that goal by having one suit for each day of the week, hanging it up on a wide-shouldered hanger with the buttons undone, making sure it has "room to breathe" in the closet, and yes, always wearing a sweatshirt.

That having been said, there is the other side of the coin. An undershirt's outline will almost always be visible and some say that is the male equivalent of having panty lines showing.

I prefer that to soiled shirts and ruined suits.
