Why did Osama bin Laden run a plane into a building?

To completely answer it you will have to go farther back but because I'm doing Biology homework and typing this I'll make it short. Basically it all started when Russia, then the Soviet Union was occupying Afghanistan. Because Afghanistan is such a religious country they did not like the idea that a Communist nation was ruling an Islamic nation. So of course a politician saw on CNN one night that Afghanistan did not like the presence of this party, a man by the name a Charlie Wilson, Wilson just a small Texas Playboy politician had to do something.

We gave what was called the Jihads weapons to defeat the Russians. But after the war was over we just got up and left. No aid, No military support just old AK-47's and some land mines. So obviously the jihads were angry, completely opposing the western ways of life, They struck back with force in 2001. That's the shortened version I have for you.
