Hello people, I wrote this question..I need to get away from my "emotionally abusive" father. He hasn't hit me in over a year and I know he isn't going to. I've been to the DCF (department of children and families) several times and they have investigated him. But he always gets off the hook, I'm upset that I still have to live with him and I realllllyyyy want to avoid emancipation if at all possible. I'm 17 yrs old. I know I only have a year left...but that's too long to be with this father. Please, if there's any1 out there that can help, respond to this, please. God Bless.
No, a hotel cannot legally give away your room reservation without your consent.
Running away is always without parental consent! If the parent would consent to you running away they are kicking you out and are guilty of child abandonment. Nothing will be solved by running away though. If you are being abused contact the police or the CPS.
There are laws in the state of Maine for running away. It is illegal for to run away from home before you are 18 years of age or without your parent's consent.
Yes, a parent can legally take away a child's phone as long as it is done in a reasonable and appropriate manner.
Unless you have a divorce agreement which specifically states that you cannot move to a different location without the consent of the other parent, then yes, you are free to move.
You may have to have a probate court rule on ownership before you can legally sell or give away the property.
Woah. You sound like my cousin Jory....Odd. Not legally but that's like...Running away so it'd be ok right?
In US, a minor (anyone under 18) cannot legally leave home without parental consent unless they have been legally emancipated in some way (court decree, marriage, etc).
No you can not move out at 14 without parental consent. If you are being abused where you live, contact the police or the Children's Aid Society and they will help remove you from your home and the government then take custody of you and you will be in foster care or with a relative. You can not move out legally on your own at 14 regardless of the reason.
Yes, a parent can legally take away a child's property as long as it is done in a reasonable and appropriate manner. Parents have the authority to make decisions regarding their child's possessions in the best interest of the child.
A child can leave home WITH parents' consent at 16, or without it if they are leaving an abusive or neglectful situation. A child can leave home without parental consent at 17. This is the current legislation in the UK.
No. In fact, the child can be taken away from you. You're considered a parent after you have a child. You're considered an adult at 18. Depending on your state and if you are the age of consent, emancipation is an option, making you legally independent, but still not an adult.
