Prolonged, repeated, and severe abuse can cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD may include obsessive (intrusive) thoughts and compulsive acts.
i have ocd, and no milk doesnt cause it.......the only thing i can think of for u to ask that question is by watching monk (my fave show!) who has a fear of milk, but no, it does not cause ocd.
actually,no. you will know if you have OCD because you will need everything a certain way, or be afraid of certain things. OCD is not a joke it is a serious health and mental condition so stop playing around, it isn't funny.
Sometimes depression can be a part of it, I have borderline OCD. Usually axiety is the number one cause of OCD.
Cause symmetry is awsome! and he has OCD for symmetry!
OCD is caused by a gene that regulates how much serotonin is released into the brain. In people with OCD, this gene is different, and causes to much serotonin into the brain. This causes the disturbing, recurrent thoughts(obsessions) or "NEED" to figure out a problem. and then the debilitating habits(compulsions) as a result. There has been some thought given to strep throat as a trigger for obsessive-compulsive disorder. Strep throat is NOT a cause of OCD, but rather can cause it to actually show up and present itself in people with the mutated gene that causes OCD.Also OCD depends on peoples thinking styles & habits. If one's thinking style is bizzare & very different from the ordinary & standard styles he/she has more possibilities to have an OCD. On the contrary,OCD is not caused by too much seriton but not enough, medications such as zoloft, FocalinXR, or Prozac also known as SRI's which stands for serotonin reuptake inhibitor do just that. They slow the removal. My son of 15 years suffers with OCD. he started take prozac for 1 month. after the second week i started noticing he was doing wierd think such as blinking fast, or for example we would be sitting at the diner table and he would remain unresponsive. he would sit there for minutes and just stare. when i ask what is wrong he just says he has to figure this out.The role of genetics in OCD is theory not fact and there are numerous studies confirming that single genes are not responsible for mental problems. Regarding the neurotransmitter Serotonin... some people with OCD do show decreased levels. However this is likely to be as a result of the OCD and not the cause of it.OCD is due to a complex interaction between genetic make-up (not a single gene) and the environment (life experiences).

while people who have problems with gambling, overeating or with substance abuse may appear to be compulsive, these activities also provide pleasure to some degree. The compulsions of OCD, on the other hand, are never pleasurable
It's doubtful. OCD is about repeated habits so, possibly one of the problems is someone eats a small or large amount of food because of the OCD. Some people with OCD will refuse to eat certain foods or will move their food around on their plate and eat in sequence (eg: meat first, then potatoes and then the veggies.) This is a "ritual" and generally doesn't change unless the person receives therapy.
Can I just point out that not all of these apply to everyone with OCD. Everyone is different and therefore habits very from person to person.cleaninghand washingchecking - such as checking that doors are locked, or that the gas or a tap is offcountingordering and arranginghoardingasking for reassuranceneeding to confessrepeating words silentlyprolonged thoughts about the same subject'neutralising' thoughts (to counter the obsessional thoughts or images)Doing things a certain number of times until it feels rightWanting things to be equalHope this helps!! A doctor typically diagnoses OCD through a comprehensive evaluation that includes interviews, symptom assessment, and possibly the use of standardized questionnaires or tests. They may also consider ruling out other mental health conditions with similar symptoms.;displayed.
