Can I just point out that not all of these apply to everyone with OCD. Everyone is different and therefore habits very from person to person.

  • cleaning
  • hand washing
  • checking - such as checking that doors are locked, or that the gas or a tap is off
  • counting
  • ordering and arranging
  • hoarding
  • asking for reassurance
  • needing to confess
  • repeating words silently
  • prolonged thoughts about the same subject
  • 'neutralising' thoughts (to counter the obsessional thoughts or images)
  • Doing things a certain number of times until it feels right
  • Wanting things to be equal

Hope this helps!! XxX

Can the amount of food you eat link to OCD?

It's doubtful. OCD is about repeated habits so, possibly one of the problems is someone eats a small or large amount of food because of the OCD. Some people with OCD will refuse to eat certain foods or will move their food around on their plate and eat in sequence (eg: meat first, then potatoes and then the veggies.) This is a "ritual" and generally doesn't change unless the person receives therapy.
