How can a second wife become comfortable living in the house that her husband built for his first wife prior to their divorcing when refurnishing and redecoration cannot be afforded?

It is hard moving into someone elses life and living in the same place as the dredded ex wife, but with time it will all pass. If you can't afford to redecorate, you can do small amounts at a time. Put up pictures which include you, add you own style to the house bit by bit. Rearrainge the furntiture completely if your husband is comfortable with it. Get a pet so you aren't the only new thing in the house (or a fish if you have Allergies). I know a couple that went through this, they started slow and small. Eventually in a year, the house was completely different than it was a year ago. They plan to repaint the house in the summer. You can repaint a room at a time, or add decorative wall borders. Start by making a list of the things you want to change and make your own. Go over it with your husband and prioritize. Then do one thing at a time. It is a slow process, but it will not kill you financially. Good luck!
