u could write a note, send an IM/email . . .or just come clear and tell him and hopefully he/she would feel the same way. . .or get someone to find out if he/she likes u or not and if he/she does tell he/she how u feel.

Well, before telling someone that you love them, you should make sure you actually do. A simple way to do so is to think about *why* you love them, what exactly about them makes you love them? If you can't really come up with an answer, or you come up with things like: "just because", "it's just a feeling", "I just know", that will probably fade in as little as a few days or as much as a few years. If you don't know the person well enough to come up with an answer, again, you probably don't love them.

Now, if you determine that you do indeed love them and can explain why that is so, the way to go about it is to make sure they aren't stressed about something else, for example: They just came home from work and, unknown to you, had a bad day and just keeps up the smile to not worry you. Surprising them with something big like "I love you" probably isn't a good time. You should probably wait until your next date, or simply a relaxed time when you are both together, and make sure you have their attention before saying something like that. If you are watching a movie and suddenly blurt it out, the reaction will most likely be surprise and they will go on the defensive.

That all may seem like a little much, but love isn't something to be taken lightly. Love means you would devote yourself to this person and their happiness, and know that they would do the same. If you aren't sure of that, don't rush into "I love you"s; it can only cause problems down the road when you realize it's not true.
