If you are sleeping together already, then get a nice hotel and go up to the room a little earlier and spread rose pedals all over the bed, or, leave one red rose on her pillow with the ring tied to it on a pretty ribbon. Make sure you're right next to her! Tell the hotel that you want chocolate covered strawberries and champagne delivered to your room at a certain time. Have a big fancy bath tub in your hotel room already drawn with bubbles or rose pedals floating in it, candles around the bath tub, and the lights down low.

You could go away for a weekend to a beautiful hotel or a quaint Bed/Breakfast and propose to her there.

The old fashion way of getting down on one knee, taking her hand is still one of the most romantic ways to propose.

If both of you are adventuresome, and you can afford it, have a private plane cross by where she lives (be sure you're there) and have a banner that asks her to marry you.

If you are lucky enough to live in a city that has a horse-drawn carriage that circles a beautiful park, then rent one for the evening and take your own chilled champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Have fun!

Only you know the personality of your girlfriend, so if she's a private person and reserved I'd go with the hotel or getting down on one knee or the carriage around the park. Im asking my boyfriend on the 12thFebruary this year. He can't wear rings or watches due to work. So i thought i of his favourite hobbie, which is steams trains. I have paye for us both to drive a steam train as this is something we both will enjoy doing. Then we are having dinner buy a lake. The company i wrote to are helping me plan the day and trying to make the place look romantic before we arrive. I have bought a small diecast steam engine in red gift box. I will propose to him with this near the lake half way through the day. Later in the evening we are having dinner in a lovely country pub where we are staying for 2 nights. This may sound a lot of time and money to some, but he works away on a ship 6 weeks on 6 off. He been away over Christmas and come back around his birthday in feb, so iv combined the 2 presents an the special day together.

You just use open, honest, and direct communication. Just speak from the heart. Tell the person how you feel, that you love him/her, want to spend your life with him/her, take care of them, cherish them etc. However, you did not give us a whole lot of information to go on here. The response might have been quite different if we knew the following:

* Are you a male or female * What is the age difference (45 trying to marry a 18 year old?)

* Is your intended underage So, it would very much depend on the circumstances. Still remember this. Over half the marriages of today wind up in divorce. Large age differences do not usually work out, and you will most likely add to the statistic. Think about this very carefully!
