With the exception of school buses it's about 12 years old, but that is up to the parents. Modern times have caused parents to be far more cautious with their children and these are no longer innocent times. Perhaps going with another friend or a group of friends at 12 is better. I'm in British Columbia, Canada, and many parents still drive their kids to elementary school and to their sporting events.
