Generally, yes. However, you can always try talking to him about why he want's to move on. Usually if a relationship has hit this point there's not much that can be done to salvage it without a lot of compromise. On the other hand, these sorts of discussions can turn bad very quickly, leaving one side worse off than if they had just separated. If he seems hostile toward communications then it might be best to just let him go. In the end you might suffer a lot less pain than if you drag out a relationship that he doesn't really want.
