What are some good questions to ask people you are just meeting for the first time?

The best way to get to know someone is to be really friendly, you can always just ask simple questions like; what is your name, how old are you, whats your job or what school do you go to (depending on the age of the person). Ask them if they like things that you like e.g. if you like Dolphins then ask them if they like Dolphins and then if they do talk to them about that subject. People also like compliments so comment on what they are wearing and their hair (maybe).

When we sit back and think of what we have to say or do to get to know someone it always appears harder then when you are actually with the person. It depends on the age. Talking about the latest movies out in the theaters; your favorite singing group; American Idol; sports (even if it's a female and she doesn't know a lot about it she can ask questions and try to learn something about it.) Philosophy; politics; what's going on in the world in general or something you've seen on the news or a special program. What the person wants to do for a living in the future. As you get to know each other better you can ask more personal questions about their past life.

I think that asking things like Do you play sports? Do you have any Hobbies? What do you do for a living? (that depends on the age. Tailor it to suit.) Do you like your job? if you're going on a date stay away from the topic of ex's. I'm at wits end on specific questions but just don't get to personal or ask something that could possibly offend. Try to be laid back and keep up a non-akward conversation. What's your favorite song? Who do you think is going to be the next "American Idol"? <----That one should start a conversation whether or not he or she watches the show. I really hoped this helped. Maybe ask them about their past, anything such as so if there younger do you attend College? Or maybe so mind if I ask where you work?

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

What are you doing this weekend?

Just simple questions, even talking about the weather could lead onto a good conversation, always has for me... Hope this helps!

If you are talking about becoming a person's friend then ask questions but don't be too nosey. Talk about something they are interested in. If you don't know what the person is interested in then talk about what is currently happening i.e. if you are fishing and this person you want to get to know is fishing too ask them things like do you often go fishing? etc. Talk about yourself too and this will help the person learn about you too so that they can become more interested in you. Remeber that people love to talk about themselves. You can talk about something that you and the person both share like wearing glasses etc. Start the conversation with hello or something or just smile and then speak to them.

In the fishing example you can probably just go straight into the questions. If you want the person to stay with you afterwards or something then just say something like I'm going to place x. Do you want to come to place x with me?

That sort of stuff.
