What do you do when you like someone but they have a girlfriend already?

Fact is, that it depends on what kind of relationship. If they are married, then you should respect that union. People make their own decisions, whether we see them as good or bad. We can't make choices for people. The best you can do, is be there as a friend. If things are meant to be between the two of you then it will happen in it's own time. Just be there, care and everything will work out. If you don't want to just be friends, then move on. Sounds rough, but it's the for the best.

It depends on how much you like this person. If you love them, you should definitely tell them. In private of course. Somewhere in the conversation(it might be best if you say this in the beginning), if you don't want the fact that you love this person to become public, you should say, "Please don't tell anyone about this. It really means a lot to me." If the person is one of your good friends, they will almost surely be happy to oblige. But you should certainly let them know if you love them. Otherwise, I would advise that you wait until the feelings grow stronger.
