it totally just depends, like, what do you want to happen? they say they like you back and you start dating? well, that's like the obvious one, so I'll go with that. if you don't know them at all, it depends how confident you are with who you are, and who they are as well, if they are a player or whatever, it may take more than simply a declaration of "i like you :) " y'know, so yeah, but usually it may be best not to be so straight up unless they already like you too, so just hint it subtly.
