It means that at this point, he just wants to be friends. I know some people will disagree with me, but I think having friends is a good thing; I know you might prefer something more, like romance, but he may not be ready. So if you like him, it might be okay to just be his friend for now. Don't pressure him, and don't expect that he will change. But once he sees that you are a good friend, it might become something more sometime in the future.

What many men don't realize is that in this modern society more and more women are getting married later in life and going after careers and having their children later in life. The percentage is climbing in leaps and bounds where women are equal with men as far as wanting to remain single until they attain their goals in life. 1. He doesn't want to be in a relationship because he doesn't want to ruin your friendship.

2. He's not allowed to be in a relationship.

3. He likes you as friend, sibling, etc.
