What does it mean when your ex and you are good friends and yesterday when you were together he looked at the ring you were wearing and asked you what finger the engagement and wedding ring goes on?

Since he is your ex and he saw a ring on your finger he may have thought you were engaged (most men don't know what ring finger and engagement ring goes on.) He may have been curious or he may be worried you are engaged. Since you are good friends then your communication skills should be open and you should feel comfortable asking him why he asked you that question. He holds the key to the comment he made.

He knows that I am not engaged and that last semester when we were together we talked about marriage and maybe a future together then in June he broke up with me due to some reasons which I understand yet he is my best friend.I do not think he is worried about me being engaged unless he has found someone else he wants to propose to after a couple of months after breaking up with me even though we hang out at least 3-4 times a week having lunch or dinner or chatting or watching TV,yes we have open communication skills,he knows me the best besides my family as well as my guyfriends.I still care about him but know that we will always care about each other since we have been in each other's lives,played an important role yet sort of do not know if I should ask him.We made plans to travel to Europe especially to meet my grandparents for the past 2 years or less since I am from there yet never had the chance to due to school,summer school and so forth including my family trips.He even thought that maybe after I finish school,get my BA we can see how things are going especially after I get a job and I am settled down financially.He is always sort of cryptic to the comments he makes at times but he is my ex not my bf so why am I taking this so personal.
