The first answer was right humbug....or should I say "ignorance"? (Not in a bad way meant). I do not know your situation....but have you maybe tought so far that every single person (people) do have a past and they are maybe victim or Survivor? All people do have a past. When it is a friend from you or something else, my suggestion is....try to talk out your issues with this person and show understanding, patience etc. but only in a honestly way. Everyone does have a past, and I like to think no one plays victim!
