we fall for the wrong person because we have unresolved issues from our childhood. There are different stages of development, and in each stage you have a different need. So for example, at the age of two we generally go through an attachment stage, where we don't want to be separated from our primary caregiver. So if our caregiver (let's call her mom) leaves, goes back to the workforce, lets us cry ourselves to sleep when we are upset...in general, doesn't fill our need to be attached (which incidentally, if nurtured, will go away on its own in a year or so and the child will want to branch out slowly) ...well then we have a hole that needs to be filled, and we don't know how to do that on our own. So we suck it up, and we grow up, and then we meet someone who does the same thing as mom, but we don't recognize it because it's unfinished business in our natural development. The kicker is, that when we first meet someone we are attracted to, the first three months is awesome and all our needs are met. After that, the honeymoon stage is over and if that person doesn't want to give you all that attention, then they back away, you panic and confusion on both sides ensues. Once you're all grown up, you are all grown up...and you need to find ways to meet your own needs. When you do, the right person will see that you are whole and they will be attracted to you.
