Many people believe that when a boy is mean to a girl it means he likes/has a crush on her. However, without fully knowing the boy in question there is very little way to determine whether this boy is interested in yourself, or is just plain mean, the only way to really know would be to subtly tell the boy you don't appreciate his attitude toward you, if he sheepishly apologizes, or looks embarrassed, then its probably an indicator that he's an okay kind of person and doesn't have some kind of vendetta against you. If he laughs in your face or insults you for it, then i doubt that he's particularly interested in dating you.

You may wish to consider asking him about what it is that he believes you have done wrong and again, without knowing the guy it'd be pretty hard to analyse him, but if he's consistently mean to you you may want to bring it to an end by sharply telling him you do not appreciate the way he's been talking to you/treating you and try to end the conflict in a non-violent manner, he may just feel that you are an easy target and so he's decided to vent his anger on you.
The issue my have relevance to a girlfriend, if you are currently seeing someone then the issue may have stemmed from his admiration of her and he feels that if he can show you up in front of her, she may become less interested in yourself. If you believe this may be the case I suggest that you do not tell your girlfriend this as the chances are that it would probably upset her.
