Of Mice and Men is a John Steinbeck novel set in the 1930s telling the story of migrant ranch workers and their dreams. The story focuses on two main characters, Lennie and George, who travel together. Lennie is a large, strong, mentally challenged man, while his friend, George, is small-framed, quick and intelligent. The name of the novel "Of Mice and Men" comes from a famous poem written by Robert Burns called "To a Mouse" which summarizes very well what happens in the story.Lennie's mice are just like toys for Lennie because Lennie likes to stroke something all the time. even though Lennie never means to kill them, he does kill them everytime he tries to play with them or pet them.Lennie pulled the girl's dress and the girl screamed to the law that she was raped,so George and Lennie had to run away from Weed. but actually Lennie just wanted to feel how soft the girl's skirt is.~
George encourages Lennie to remain quiet and let him do the talking when they meet new people. He also emphasizes Lennie's innocence and incapability of wrongdoing to deflect suspicion away from himself. Additionally, George tries to ensure that they keep a low profile and not draw attention to themselves.
This book is about two men named George and Lennie who travel together during the great depression. when they go to there new job they meet this guy curly who thinks he is the "tough guy in the barn". so curly tries to beat up Lennie but that doesn't work because Lennie breaks curly's hand. then curlys wife comes in the barn a little later in the story and Lennie starts to pet her hair and he cant stop so she starts to shout and fidget and curly doesn't no any better so he hangs on to her and accidentaly snaps! he neck. curly find out but Lennie ran away George finds Lennie and tells him all about the fantasy place that they are going to and George shoots Lennie in the back of the head.
George. After Lennie accidentally killed Curleys wife and went to hide in the brush (a place where George and Lennie agreed to meet in case of trouble) Curley and the guys set out to kill Lennie for what he did. George, not wanting Lennie to die like that, told Lennie the story of the house they planned on having. while telling Lennie he shot him in the back of the head.
in the brush by the river in the beginning of book is important because that is were we get the animal references and its not only were we meet George and Lennie but also when George shoots Lennie also crooks room is important as its were we see crooks and how he is lonely (there is alot to talk about crooks room) the bunk house is important as it shows the life of the workers.
Lennie kills his puppy by accident and then kills curley's wife by accident trying to keep her quiet. George then tells Lennie to meet him at the lake (from the beginning) but when the other ranch hands find her dead they go on a man hunt to hurt Lennie. So George finds him first and shoots him to protect him
If you mean the dead mouse from the beginning of the story, then because Lennie had his pants wet and George threw the mouse in the lake. George also knows Lennie too much, since they've been together for a long time, and assumes that he went to look for it.
