If you were told to create a short story what would you write about and why?

In my family, we write short stories all the time by email. We write a paragraph, and email it to the next person to write the next paragraph. It is fun. Right now we're writing a Science Fiction peice. We write fantasy and true-to-life stuff sometimes too. I have written my own short stories as well. My favorite one is about a girl who grows up in a society where they have a really, really good rehabilitation system (unlike our current one), and people are integrated back into society all the time. She kills someone accidentally, and her story through this system and the things that happen to her is interesting to me. ... It doesn't sound very interesting from this paragraph though, does it? :) I'm going to have to work on my marketing skills. :)

This is entirely your choice. Maybe do it based on something personal, or maybe the main character is an animal that you like or is a person but has characteristics of your best friend. But the topic is your choice. Write about what you enjoy, otherwise it won't work.

I would write a short story about a young traveler who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, encountering different cultures and landscapes along the way. Through this journey, the traveler learns important life lessons about empathy, resilience, and the beauty of diversity. I find this theme inspiring and meaningful as it reflects the universal human experience of growth and learning through new experiences.
