Yes, tales dealing with time travel almost inevitably are. Even Rip Van Winkle, in his 20 year nap- missed the War ( maybe not such a bad thing)- his wife had died, and other negative changes occured- in The Flintstones variant- Fred was missing after a construction accident (Plausible), and Wilma remarried- the whole thing being staged as an object lesson by Alien helmeted scientist Gazoo ( who my mother thought was a disoriented Vietnam Vet from the helmet- Look- it"s the silly man from the War! The novel and two films- three if you cant the crew-adapted World Without End all go into the tragic mode though there is some hope in the closure of the last film. On the other hand- if a single man went into Time travel- mignt not most of the prospects be fruitful- that angle Has been explored, but rarely.
