In Chapter 10 of "To Kill a Mockingbird," Atticus shoots a rabid dog, Tim Johnson, in one shot despite not having fired a gun in years. Scout must be able to see through the eyes of that person, in other words; she must imagine living the life of people who don't see things the same way she does.
Atticus was trying to teach Jem that courage is NOT a man with a gun, but someone who goes into a situation knowing that he has lost, but decides to go through it anyways. Atticus does not want his children to think only brave people are the people with guns.
I can't decide! I love how honorable Atticus is! He's always trying to teach Jem and Scout the lessons of life, and he tries his best with them. I also love Scout, because she's so innocent but brave at the same time. She tries her best to listen to Atticus and her family. I love Jem because he really grows and matures as a character. Plus he's really brave and tries to save his family's life more than once. Boo is really sweet too.
Following Tom's death, Atticus bravely continues to confront racism and injustice in his community. He stands by his principles and continues to fight for what is right, despite facing criticism and threats from others. Atticus remains steadfast in his belief in equality and justice.
Atticus was brave in standing alone before the mob because he showed dignity and integrity by upholding his principles in the face of danger. It was a courageous act that demonstrated his commitment to justice and moral values.
Jem And Scout are both Atticus' children. They are both very curious about Arthur "Boo" Radley through out the whole story and later find out that he is in fact a mockingbird. Atticus is a lawyer in Maycomb and is left defending Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a 19 year old girl named Mayella Ewell. This is a big issue in their society considering the fact that prejudice and racism plays a big role in humanity and it's views. Hope this helps! =]
