Darry is Ponyboy's older brother in the book "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton. Throughout the book, Darry takes care of his younger brothers, Ponyboy and Sodapop, after the death of their parents. He works hard to provide for them and tries to maintain discipline and order in their lives, although he sometimes struggles with balancing his responsibilities and his relationships with his brothers.
If you have read the book and/or seen the movie you would know that it is Darry. Darry is the oldest, Sodapop is the middle child.
Ponyboy thinks that his oldest brother Darry is uncaring and cold at the begining of the book. Although at the end of the book Pony realizes that Darry really does care for him.

Darry's crying have such a profound effect on Ponyboy because Ponyboy realizes that Darry does care and love him after all. At the beginning of the story Ponyboy thinks Darry doesn't like and he thinks he likes Sodapop. But then of the story when Darry starts crying, Ponyboy realizes that Darry does care about him.
