What did you learn while reading of mice and men?

The Poem "To a mouse" by Robert Burns. Of Mice and Men gets the name from this poem and when the poem says "the best laid schemes o' mice and men gang aft a glay" this means the best planned out plans of mice and men often go wrong. This represents the American dream, the characters plans to achieve this dream that go wrong.

i had to do it for GCSE work but actually it isn't that bad once you get into it,

it is set in the 1930s depression but the characters are so believable that you can really empathize with them which makes the book relevant even today

John Steinbeck received mixed reviews for his most recognised novel, of mice and men. The Sunday times described the book as Knuckle-whitening... However due to the books rough language, e.g the b-word or sl*t, there was an outcry and one source even described it as having no literary value. This book is now read in most secondary schools nation and maybe even worldwide.
