The physical structure of the courthouse in Maycomb, as described in To Kill a Mockingbird, reflects the town's values and social hierarchy. Its old, deteriorating appearance suggests a reluctance to change and a commitment to tradition, even when it reinforces inequalities. The segregation of the seating arrangements within the courthouse exemplifies the racial attitudes prevalent in Maycomb, highlighting the town's deeply entrenched racism.
In Maycomb, people typically seal contracts and deals through a verbal agreement or a handshake. Formal written contracts are less common in the community, as trust and word-of-mouth agreements are often valued more. Meetings at the local courthouse or in the presence of witnesses may also be used to finalize agreements.
The people of Maycomb said it snowed because it was extremely rare and unusual for snow to fall in their town. The children, Scout and Jem, were excited about the prospect of snow and eagerly awaited its arrival.
Dill wants a baby from the drug-store, and he claims that he can get one in town from Mr. Avery. He arrives in Maycomb with a dramatic tale about being locked in a courthouse basement and escaping to travel to Maycomb to be a "gentleman."
Its the depression era.
Yes, there was a pile of ice outside the courthouse in "To Kill a Mockingbird." It symbolized the extreme heat in Maycomb, Alabama, during the trial of Tom Robinson. The ice served as a relief for the overheated spectators.

laura and natasha rock!! and by the way i have know idea ^ this is why you don't trust wikianswers sometimes. but the correct answer is it shows the segregation between the coloured people and black people. How Jem and Scout are white people and disobey the segregation rules and sit with the blacks. Also, how Jem and Scout support their father with this case.
It was the Great Depression era.
Because of the Tom Robinson's trial.
I don't think this is the right question becacause the jury that made the decision was not from Maycomb. They were from Old Sarum. But I believe that Atticus was glad because the jury took al ong time to come to a decision on the final saying of the trial. He thinks that Maycomb is going to change, but is going to take sometime. Atticus thinks that people just don't understand things. He thinks that Maycomb people judge too quickly.
