A cliffhanger means something that takes the characters to an exciting point and then stops in the middle. You need to think of your own exciting scenes if you're going to be a writer.

One warning: cliffhangers are very frustrating, especially if you're writing a series of stories or books where the reader has to wait for the next one to be published! I'd save the cliffhangers for the end of a chapter, where the reader just has to turn the page to find out what happens -- this is very effective in getting the reader to finish your book.
