J is the narrator of the book three men in a boat. He is a funny man. He is a single,young , middle class men living in London much like author himself at the time of the publication of the book the initial j was supposed to stands for Jerome .

Jerome is found of history literature and spends time on dreaming the knights to the countryside to England . This day dreaming sometimes became trouble for him when he don't put suitable attention towards what he is doing .

J is found of boats but old fashioned .

The narator partrays Harris as a man of no emotion.He is not in the habit of crying. He also does not know why it is so . He is also a jolly man .He is always after some sort of drink in the offering . When everybody is worried he simply comes out wit a solution . The author is of the opinion that harris always does know about a place round the corner where you can get something brilliant in the drinking line. Harris is a easy going person who cares little about other things
