An alien civilization has become much more significant in Umofia.
Ikemefuna is a boy who is taken as part of compensation for another village's tribesmen killing a woman of Umuofia in their market. Ikemefuna is taken care of by Okonkwo, and quickly becomes like a son to Okonkwo; Ikemefuna even calls Okonkwo father. Ikemefuna behaves like an ideal clansman, and becomes close to Nwoye, mentoring him as an older brother. Eventually, Umuofia's elders consult with the oracle whom declares that Ikemefuna must die. Ikemefuna is led off outside the village and is struck with a machete. He speaks his last words, saying "Father, they have killed me!" prompting Okonkwo to deliver the killing blow.
During Ezeudu's funeral, Okonkwo accidentally kills a clansman (Ezeudu's son) when his gun explodes. Whenever a man kills a clansman, it is an affront to the Earth goddess, and the murderer must be exiled from the village, according to the tribe's traditions, with the murderer's possessions destroyed. However, since it was an accident (the female version of the crime), he is only exiled for seven years as opposed to life.
It is not specifically mentioned in the book. Okonkwo puts most of his focus on Nwoye, since he is the eldest son, but Nwoye does not really meet his standards for being a man. Okonkwo seems to respect and like his adopted son Ikemefuna more, even though Ikemefuna is not truly his son. Later, his focus is mostly on his daughter Ezinma, whom he continually wishes had been born a boy.
Okonkwo treated his daughter Obiageli as a beautiful female to be married off to a high-ranking and respectable Ibo warrior. Okonkwo also relied on Ezinma to convey his wishes to Obiageli, since Obiageli was not as good at understanding her father as Ezinma. However, Obiageli appears to be more of a typical idealized female, so Okonkwo uses her as an example to Ezinma.
After Okonkwo's gun accidentally explodes, killing Ekeudu's son, he is exiled from the village for seven years. His land and property are destroyed, with the exception of yams saved from his farm, and the property that Okonkwo and his family take with them. Okonkwo and his family must return to his mother land because the killing of a clansman is a crime. However, since the killing was unintentional and considered a 'female crime', he can return in 7 years. They are sent to his late mother's kinsmen and are given a lot to farm and build their home
Okonkwo gains wealth by being a hard worker and farming yams. He chooses fertile farmland (for which he must clear much brush), and he encourages his family to work hard. Since he is known for his hard work, others are willing to help him out, knowing that it will not be a wasted investment.
He tells Okonkwo that he would have refused to take part based on the fact that Ikemefuna call him father.... and he reminds Okonkow that the Oracle did NOT ask him to take part.
This depends on the meeting. He started fights with weaker men. He indirectly called a man an agbala since he had no titles. He killed a messenger from the Europeans.
There are numerous things that cause Okonkwo's downfall, depending on one's viewpoint and beliefs. Overall, Okonkwo's fear of being weak, of being like his father or thought of this way, leads to his downfall. This causes him to constantly wish to project a strong solid image and never be weak. Okonkwo is rash, and intemperate, which may have caused him to offend the gods, who might have correspondingly punished him.On several occasions might Okonkwo have offended the gods:1. Beating Ojiugo during the week of peace. Okonkwo's temper causes him to beat his wife during the week of peace, and not to stop even when told of this. Due to his pride, Okonkwo did not show much outward remorse, even though he was repentant inside.2. Killing Ikemefuna. Okonkwo's pride causes him to go on the death march with Ikemefuna, and his fear of being thought weak causes him to strike the killing blow, instead of letting someone else do it. His rashness creates an action in which he might offend the gods.It may also be supposed that Okonkwo nearly killing Ekwefi with his gun, causes Chielo, her good friend, to pronounce that Ikemefuna must die, although this is not explicit in the book, nor is there conclusive evidence to support this theory. His accident with his gun killing Ekeudu's son is another contributing factor. This forces him into exile. In some way, since Okonkwo did not follow Ekeudu's advice to not lay a hand in Ikemefuna's death, it may be seen as Ekeudu's spirit cursing Okonkwo after death. The fact that Okonkwo's father was not buried properly, but left to die in the Evil Forest might lead some to believe that his father's spirit haunted Okonkwo, perhaps to the point of influencing Nwoye, Okonkwo's eldest son. Nwoye's effeminate nature can be partially blamed for Okonkwo's downfall. However, though it might also be blamed on having inherited Unoka's genes, it is also blamed on Okonwko's fiery nature, molding Nwoye into a sad faced youth through the many beatings. The European colonials arriving in Nigeria are also partially to blame. Okonkwo's exile leads him to be unable to defend Umuofia from the church, until it is too late. The tribesmen are relatively honourable, and foolishly trust the Commissioner who tricks and imprisons them. Finally, with the encounter with the messengers, several things can be blamed for the failure of this encounter. 1. The villagers were not yet ready to go to action, and were weaker than Okonkwo's ideal. 2. The villagers let the messenger's escape, dooming Okonkwo.Okonkwo killing himself is merely the final act to his downfall. In a grand sense, the weakness of the tribe as a whole and it's inability to speak as one voice leads to the tribe falling apart, and Okonkwo's downfall. Ironically, the very customs of the tribe itself, which separated itself, give the colonialists a wedge to drive between the people.

okonkwo basically don't want to turn out like his father which is a lazy person and owed everyone in the village money but before he died unoka (okonkwo's father) tells okonkwo that its OK to fail which makes okonkwo act all hard and wouldn't show any affection for that is a sign of weakness, so his oldest son nwoye(he's only 12)which okonkwo sees some laziness in him and start beating him up so he could become a better person-strong,manly guy, later on the village gives a virgin girl and a boy to stop umofia(they're city) to go to war with its next door city's.the boy stays with okonkwo(his name is ikemefuna) no one knew it would be as long as 3 years, then the village decided that ikemefuna must be killed because he end up calling okonkwo father, which later on becomes a problem,so this old guy (the oldest guy in the village) came to okonkwo's house and told him that he must be the sacrifice and he also told okonkwo he doesnt need to be part of this so he goes with them and the man with him were about to kill ikemefuna when he runs to okonkwo and tells him what the man were trying to do so he takes his knife and kills him so he wont look weak in front of the others. all this story is about that okonkwo wants to make everyone thinks hes strong and no weak like his father, this is all I've read it,there is still parts to it,if your really intersted in reading it go and get it or you can go to the sparknotes-you put things fall apart sparknotes and your there,it will give you everything that happend there in great detail,if your the kind of person that likes to know what excatly happens in a book, since most people don't do. but i don't think you should let any one annoys you by letting them get the best of you, believe it or not,im known as to be the meaniest girl in school, but i still enjoy books even though somebody get on my never-i give great advices that i cant follow but you! Five, since the trailing zero should have been stripped out if it were not significant.
