it says on page 81 of the book that they were married in june, and before that it mentions the date 1917. however, if you read further it says "next autumn" so it is only an extimate, so they either got married:

June, 1918 or

June, 1919

How does Daisy describe Gatsby?

Daisy tells Gatsby that he resembles "the advertisement of the man". This symbolism both reflects the new modernity of the age, and the notion that Gatsby's entire persona is carefully and artfully contrived - "he created the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old would create, and to that creation he was loyal to the end."

Why is gatsby not great?

Gatsby is great because he lives the American dream. He doesn't necessarily achieve it, but in a materialistic way he does. His pure love for Daisy and his generosity (parties at his house) show his difference from the crowd. His dream Daisy's reciprocal love, which he will never receive anymore, is his motivation never to give up during his penny less moments in the war. Additionally he is a great dreamer + hoping person: Until the end he never gives up, what makes him look magnanimous. The last factor of his greatness is the protection daisy experiences by Gatsby in the end of the novel, when he covers her after she killed Myrtle, which leads up to Gatsby's death.

How old was Jay Gatsby when he died?

Gatsby met Daisy five years previous whilst training for the infantry. He mentions that he left home at 17 to join the infantry, so I would assume he met Daisy at about 17, in 1917. So he would be twenty two in 1922, the year that he he died.
